🟥 EXPOSÉ: The Truth About the July 7th

Assault at D.W. Daniel High School Football Camp “When silence screams"

On July 7th, 2025, at an FCA 7-on-7 football camp hosted at Presbyterian College, a high school senior from D.W. Daniel High School in Central, South Carolina, was violently assaulted by three of his own teammates.

This wasn’t a scuffle. This was a pre-planned, coordinated attack that left a young man concussed, bruised, and medically disqualified from playing the senior season he’d worked toward since seventh grade. It wasn’t just his body that was hit—it was his dignity, his dreams, and the community’s trust in the people tasked with protecting our children.

🔍 WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

  • The Setting:
FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) camp—an event supposedly built on Christian values: brotherhood, sportsmanship, and faith.

  • The Attack:
While the victim was in the shower, three teammates entered his dorm room. They waited for him to exit, warned him not to escape, and even allowed him to get dressed before “handling him.”
Why? Because of a false accusation that he had used a racial slur in a group chat—an accusation he categorically denies and no evidence supports.

  • The Evidence:
In a moment of sheer courage, the victim placed his phone under a dresser and recorded the attack using his smartwatch’s camera app. That video is now in the hands of Laurens County authorities, where charges have been filed for assault by mob.

  • The Aftermath:
He suffered a serious concussion and rib and scalp injuries. Doctors told him:
     “You’re done with contact sports.”
Just like that, his senior year—his last chance to suit up with his brothers on the field—was gone.

💔 A FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP

Now here’s where the real outrage begins. Because instead of standing with the victim—
the coaches and administrators chose silence.

  • Head Coach Chris Stone was in the building during the attack.

  • Seven other coaches were on-site.

  • Principal Adam Russell and Athletic Director Benjamin Touchberry had multiple meetings with the victim’s family. They looked this young man in the eye and said what happened was wrong.

But when the dust settled?

The attackers were welcomed back to the team.
No suspensions. No removal. No justice.

Not even a public statement. Just quiet tolerance and a full season ahead… for everyone except the boy they left behind.

⚖️ WHO IS REALLY BEING PROTECTED?

The message is crystal clear:

“If you're talented enough, you’re untouchable.”

This is the death of accountability. This is what happens when we treat high school football like religion and coaches like priests who can do no wrong.

When a young man suffers a life-altering brain injury, and the school district looks the other way—we’ve lost our moral compass.

📢 THE VICTIM SPEAKS

This young man hasn’t asked for pity. He hasn’t retaliated. He hasn’t lashed out. He still says he loves his teammates and doesn't want anyone else's season ruined.

But he also said this:

“It doesn’t feel right knowing that they took my senior season away from me, but they get to continue to play.”

That is integrity. That is manhood. That is courage under fire.

Meanwhile, the adults in the room—paid public servants—sat on their hands.

🙌 THE TRUTH STILL MATTERS

This isn’t a witch hunt. This is a call to righteous accountability.

We are not asking for vengeance—we are demanding justice and equal treatment under the rules that all students are expected to follow.

Because if you’re not going to protect the boy who was assaulted, what kind of men are you coaching?

🔨 WHAT WE DEMAND

  1. Immediate removal from the team of all players charged with the assault until legal proceedings are complete.

  2. Public statement from the Pickens County School District acknowledging the incident and outlining actions taken.

  3. Accountability for all staff who failed to report or intervene, including any staff who suppressed evidence.

  4. Reform to ensure that violence and hazing are not tolerated in any athletic or extracurricular program.

  5. Support for the victim, including access to mental health care and academic accommodation if needed.

✝️ IF YOU CLAIM TO BE A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL...

FCA is a Christian organization. So let's speak plainly:

  • Jesus didn’t protect the powerful. He protected the wounded.

  • He didn’t side with winners. He sided with the wronged.

  • And He never—never—ignored the cries of the oppressed.

The Gospel is not a football slogan. It is the radical call to righteousness, to stand for truth even when it costs you everything.

🗣️ SPREAD THIS.

If you’re a parent, a coach, a pastor, a neighbor in Central, SC—or anywhere—share this.
Demand answers.
Flood the school board.
Ask how many other kids have stayed silent.
Ask how many coaches have failed their duty.

If they won’t speak—we will.

Because a program that protects bullies and buries the broken is not a program worth defending.
